Minutes:

RESOLVED: That Executive Procedure Rule 47.1 be suspended for the duration of the meeting.

66.

Attendance by Reserve Members

To note the attendance at this meeting of any duly appointed Reserve Members.

 

Reserve Members may attend meetings:-

 

(i)                 to take the place of an ordinary Member for whom they are a reserve;

(ii)               where the ordinary Member will be absent for the whole of the meeting; and

(iii)             the meeting notes at the start of the meeting at the item ‘Reserves’ that the Reserve Member is or will be attending as a reserve;

(iv)              if a Reserve Member whose intention to attend has been noted arrives after the commencement of the meeting, then that Reserve Member can only act as a Member from the start of the next item of business on the agenda after his/her arrival.

Agenda Item 8 – Admission to County Schools

 

CouncillorNizam Ismail declared a prejudicial interest in that he was a governor of Stag Lane School which was listed for consideration in respect of the children with case reference numbers P57 and P58.  He left the room whilst these cases were considered.

 

Councillor Husain Akhtar declared a prejudicial interest in that he knew the grandfather of the children with case reference numbers H28 and H29.  He left the room whilst these cases were considered.

This item was considered to contain exempt Information under paragraph 1 of Part 1 of Schedule 12A to the Local Government Act 1972, in that it contained information relating to  individuals.

Admission to County Schools

Report of the Corporate Director Children’s Services.

Minutes:

On 30 March 2011, there were 11 children for whom admissions staff could make no reasonable offer of a school place.  The Education Admissions and Awards Advisory Panel was requested to recommend to the Corporate Director Children’s Services to authorise the admission of these pupils to a school where no places existed in the relevant year group.

 

In accordance with the Local Government (Access to Information) Act 1985, cases H30, H31, H32, P55, P56, P57, P58, P59 and P60 were admitted late to the agenda to allow the Panel to allocate an appropriate place to the applicants.  It was noted that cases H28 and H29 had been circulated with the main agenda.

 

An updated table with the number of pupils on roll at Harrow schools was circulated to Members of the Panel.

 

Resolved to RECOMMEND:

 

That offers of admission to schools be made as follows:
